EA releases "Superman Returns" video game Nov. 20th

The Superman Returns video game will hit stores November 20th. Featuring a fully realized 80 square miles of Metropolis, with over 100 missions that borrow both from the recent film and 60 years of DC comics history, the game will be available on the Xbox360, the PlayStation 2, Xbox, Nintendo DS, and Game Boy Advance.

The 80 square miles of Metropolis part sounds familiar for some reason... Oh, right. I'm pretty sure no one thought that superhero games would be borrowing design elements from Grand Theft Auto. Let's face facts, as far as game design elements go, there's a lot worse places from which to borrow. Besides, I don't think one of your missions will involve Superman carjacking a van for a drive-by. You can only borrow so much, after all.

Don't expect a review from me because the title does not appear destined for the PC. You might also be asking why a big movie tie-in game is coming out roughly 6 months after the movie to which it is tied. The press release doesn't address the delays, but one can only hope they were putting some extra "polish" on the game. Game studios love to talk about all the "polish" they use on games. It's like they're wingtip shoes.
