Richard Donner's "Action Comics" debut sells out

DC Comics announced today that Action Comics #844, the first issue featuring the writing team of Geoff Johns and Richard Donner, is completely sold out. A second printing of the comic, with a re-colored version of Adam Kubert's original cover, will be available in December. A variant edition, with a new cover by Andy Kubert, will also be available in limited quantities.

The comic begins the "Last Son" story arc, revealing a plot proposed by Donner and Johns for the fifth Superman movie and rejected by Warner Brothers in favor of Superman Returns.

Another Donner Superman project is also on the horizon. In less than two weeks, Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut will be available on DVD.
