Smallville doubles Kryptonian cast

That show about Superman that I don't watch, Smallville, has cast its Kara Zor-El. People reports Laura Vandervoort will be featured as Supergirl in the next season of the CW Network show.
Like the latest Kara Zor-El, Miss Vandervoort hails from a highly developed, far away land with universal health care: Canada. She also has 4 vowels in her last name.
I mention these facts mostly because I never heard of her before today, and nothing in her IMDb listing rings any bells. Remember when we all used to link to the IMDb and not Wikipedia?
Ultimately, I suppose what really matters is this: she certainly looks the part. Can't argue with that. Will I drag myself to Smallville? Eh... Not sure I can do it.
I do hope she becomes popular on the show, as I doubt the televised character will end up being too weighed down with the current comic incarnation's emotional baggage. Thus, they'll end up changing the comic character to reflect the one on TV. Ordinarily I'm against that sort of thing, but I think it might work in this case.
