New direction for DC's Supergirl
Newsarama reported last week that a new creative team will take over the Supergirl title for DC Comics, starting with issue #23. Writer Kelley Puckett (Batgirl, Green Arrow) and artist Drew Johnson (Wonder Woman) will become the newest in a relatively long line of caretakers, given the current incarnation of the book's short history.
Puckett shared his thoughts on the character with Newsarama:
One movie, five DVDs: Blade Runner-The Final Cut
Warner Home Video is releasing December 18 three different editions of Blade Runner: The Final Cut on DVD. Director Ridley Scott has assembled a 2007 "Final Cut" of the movie, which makes a total of five versions of the movie since its release back in 1982. The science fiction classic stars Harrison Ford.
Blade Runner: The Final Cut-Special Edition is a 2-DVD set that contains the 2007 version and a documentary. Blade Runner: Collector's Edition is a 4-DVD set containing four versions of the movie, including the 2007 cut and documentary.
For fans who must have everything, there's the 5-DVD set, Blade Runner: The Ultimate Collector's Edition. It contains the four film versions, a work print, and the documentary. Check out the official site here.
Get lost in the 1980's
Fans of Jim Henson and George Lucas will want to know that the Labyrinth: Anniversary Edition was released on Tuesday as a 2-DVD set. Since the film was released in June of 1986, I can only conclude that this is intended to commemorate the 21st anniversary of the fantasy film.
Or maybe the reason behind the odd name is that there was already a Collector's Edition DVD release back in 1999. This new version will include upgraded picture and sound, as well as a couple of new documentaries. The movie stars Jennifer Connelly. Incidentally, this probably isn't Labyrinth: The Final Cut, for a six-hour version of the film was recently discovered in the Henson archives. Look for a 29th anniversary release in 2015.

"What's unique about Supergirl is that she's not unique. She's Superman. She's a Superman in a world that already has a Superman, and that's a problem for her (and me).Read the complete interview over at Newsarama.
The big question for the character, and one that I think every story so far has been implicitly asking, is what exactly is she supposed to do? Where does she fit in? I have a very specific answer to that question, and it's one that's going to make her even more unique in the DCU."
