Doomsday is coming . . .
. . . with bonus items.
Superman Doomsday, the 75-minute animated movie from DC Universe, hits DVD shelves Tuesday. The film is a loose adaptation of The Death of Superman, World Without a Superman, and The Return of Superman graphic novels.
Since the movie has to fit in a 75-minute timeframe and takes place in a universe where Superman is the only superhero on Earth, they obviously had to take some liberties with the original story. Will they ruin a classic or create a nice companion piece? We'll find out tomorrow.
A couple weeks ago, I re-read The Death of Superman. What an incredible series of comics. Nothing like the more recent stories from the Superman junk drawer I've been reading lately. The movie will have a tough time living up to its source material, but the preview looks promising at least. Check out the official Superman Doomsday site for more information.
My wife always researches the bonus items for me when there's a major Star Trek, Star Wars, or Superman release. She knows I like to analyze which is the best one for us to buy. Target: Exclusive offer (limited supply) [unfortunately, no indication in the flyer of what the offer is]
