Star Trek XI movie news roundup, 10/12/2007
posted by Tygrrius @ 7:34 AM
With filming set to begin in weeks, there's been lots of Star Trek XI news this week. The official Star Trek site reports that Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead, Mission: Impossible III) will take on the role of Montgomery Scott, while Eric Bana (Hulk, Troy, Munich) will play a key villain, "Nero."
Though not yet confirmed by StarTrek.com, The Hollywood Reporter indicates that John Cho (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, American Pie series) will portray Hikaru Sulu. (Update: StarTrek.com has confirmed Cho's casting in the role of Sulu.)
Rumors are continuing to circulate about the casting of James T. Kirk. They are strong enough this time that even the official site is reporting them. Another open role is Leonard McCoy, who writer Roberto Orci recently confirmed appears in the movie.
I thought this would be a good time to review what we officially know about Star Trek XI (which, incidentally, will likely be called simply Star Trek, but I'm still calling it Star Trek XI for now).
