Star Trek: Remastered episodes for February 2008

posted by Tygrrius @ 5:26 PM
In all of the well-deserved excitement over the new Star Trek movie coming at end of the year, don't forget about Star Trek: Remastered, which is still airing new episodes in syndication over the next several months.

This month, on Star Trek: Remastered. . . .

Weekend of February 2: "The Changeling"
No, this isn't the horror movie of the same name, starring George C. Scott (one of the scariest movies ever, I might add). Instead, this is the story of Nomad--a lonely space probe from Earth that is damaged and later merges with an alien space probe. Its new mission: To eradicate all imperfect life forms. Humans are at the top of Nomad's list. Nichelle Nichols turns in a stellar performance here as Uhura, but otherwise this episode is hardly a standout. Gene Roddenberry later re-used much of this plot for 1979's Star Trek: The Motion Picture, the worst of the original crew movies.

Weekend of February 9: "The Ultimate Computer"
Easily, the most anticipated episode of the season, "The Ultimate Computer" features war games gone wrong when the Enterprise takes on four other Constitution Class starships while testing a new computer system. Hopefully we'll receive some screenshots of the new effects work on this episode by the time it airs. You won't want to miss this one, folks.

Weekend of February 16: "The Trouble With Tribbles"
(Repeat: Read The Film Frontier review).

Weekend of February 23: "Operation: Annihilate!"
The Enterprise arrives at a planet whose inhabitants appear to be dying of mass insanity. A solid episode featuring the only on-screen appearance thus far of Jim Kirk's brother, George (Sam).
