Star Trek XI release bumped to May 2009

Paramount has just announced that the release date for the new Star Trek film (AKA Star Trek XI) has been bumped to May 8, 2009. Star Trek was originally scheduled for a December 25, 2008 release. Directed by JJ Abrams, the film stars Chris Pine as James T. Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock. Production is currently underway. I have no other details at this time regarding the release date change.

If moving the release date results in a better movie, as opposed to rushing to complete it in time for December, then I'm all for it.
