"DeForest Kelley - Never Forgotten"

I was at work finishing up a project when I heard the announcement that DeForest Kelley had passed on. I knew he hadn't been in good health but I just never expected to hear that announcement. I remember just standing by my desk and thinking "this is too sad and just too hard to believe." I felt like a member of my own family had passed on.
My father introduced me to westerns at an early age and I eventually ran into DeForest Kelley's westerns. I can always remember that when I saw him in a movie that there was going to be trouble. Such a wicked Southern but he was fun to watch. My favorite character was him as "Toby Jack" in "Apache Uprising."
When he came on Star Trek, it took me nearly a month or so to realize he was going to be a regular character on Star Trek and a good guy to boot. The Star Trek movies gave us a more in-depth look at Bones McCoy, too.
DeForest Kelley will never be forgotten. As I watch any film he's in, whether it be Star Trek or one of his westerns, all I can think is that he was a marvelous actor and we are so lucky to be able to continue to see him. I miss him still and I will never forget that he was kind enough to send me two photographs of himself. One for my daughter and one for me as a cowboy. He was very thoughtful and generous to his fans. I'll miss you, DeForest Kelley.

DeForest Kelley. That is a name that I learned to love while I was growing up. DeForest Kelley was a great man, I never knew him, but it still seemed to me that it would be such an honor to meet the real DeForest Kelley. He was one of my favorite actors, and I will truly miss him. I feel as though a part of me was lost when I found out about his death. Some people don't give Star Trek the credit it deserves. Many people's most cherished moments in their lives is that of an experience sitting down in a movie theater, the TV, or maybe a book, loving, and enjoying the wonders that Star Trek offered to them. DeForest Kelley was a big part of this wonder. His memory lives on, and with that, millions of fans, who will carry his name on high, forever.

Star Trek aired in the Philippines for a very short time. The stories were rich and profound, both scientifically and emotionally. In every episode, Bones was there giving emotional support to the troubled Captain Kirk or just simply annoying the stoic Spock. His demeanor is always funny. He's gruff but he's the kind of guy you would want at your side when all the bets are in.
It is a tragic loss for both the reel and real world to lose a man like DeForest Kelley. I never knew him except through Star Trek and Gunfight at the OK Corral. It is kind of silly and stupid to miss a man you never knew and met but Bones and Star Trek goes hand in hand. I learned various lessons from the series and Bones will surely be missed. If at any time another movie for the original cast is made, Bones will be sorely missed.
To his Family and Friends: Know that we in the Philippines care. We hope to see a reunion movie for the original cast wherein a fitting tribute to Bones will be given. Until then, "Live Long and Prosper."

When I first watched Star Trek in syndication, I always enjoyed the antics of Dr. Leonard McCoy. He was always entertaining. I would like to send my condolences to his wife and family. Rest in Peace Mr. Kelley.

I grew up watching Star Trek and was saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Kelley. He fought tooth and nail to keep the Enterprise afloat and to boost morale in a hopeless situation.
FROM THE STARS WE CAME AND TO THE STARS WE MUST RETURN.
You really were a Man among Men.

Needless to say that I'll always miss you for the fact that you've inspired me throughout the child hood years into becoming an actor that I would never thought of becoming. Before I sleep at night, I always pray for those who have passed on, including you. Nevertheless, since you have influenced me into being what I am today, I thank you. Consequently, you will always be missed and, hopefully, when I die I hope to see you myself. See you when I see you, Mr. Kelley.

It's sad that our favorite country doctor is no longer with us. From what I've heard, he sounds like a real nice guy. And just to let everyone know, I am 16-years-old and I like the original series of Star Trek more than all the others!
We'll all miss you, De. Perhaps more than the Great Bird of the Galaxy...

As DeForest Kelley once quoted what it would say on his tombstone, "He's dead, Jim." DeForest Kelley was one of the best, if not the best "Star Trek" character in the entire series. He always brought that human charm to the USS Enterprise. He'd always find humor in the situation. One of my favorite lines was:
"According to myth, the Earth was created in six days. Now watch out! Here comes Genesis! We'll do it for you in six minutes!" [Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)]
DeForest Kelley really was one of the greatest in all of Star Trek Lore. I believe I speak for all of the Final Frontier when I say to DeForest: "Live Long and Prosper."
